Jennifer Lopez is opening up about a big emotional moment in her life watching her children prepare to leave home and start college.
While talking to Entertainment Tonight at the opening night of her Up All Night Live in Las Vegas residency, the 56-year-old singer shared how she feels about her 17-year-old twins, Max and Emme, getting ready for the next chapter of their lives. Lopez, who shares her kids with ex-husband Marc Anthony, said she feels calm, proud, and surprisingly at peace.
“I actually feel really good,” she explained. “I can’t believe we’ve reached this point. It’s been just the three of us for so long.” Lopez became a single mother when the twins were only three, and she says that journey brought them incredibly close. “People came and went, but at the end of the day, it was always us,” she said.
Now, seeing Max and Emme grow into confident young adults fills her with joy. She says they’re excited, ready, and eager to step into the world just like she once was at their age. “They’re ready for life,” she shared. “And I remember how that felt at 18 wanting to go out there and do everything.”
What gives her the most comfort is knowing they always have a strong place to come back to. “They know they have a solid home,” Lopez said. “They know they’re loved, and that gives them the freedom to chase whatever they want.”
The twins were born in February 2008, and despite Lopez being one of the biggest stars in the world juggling music, movies, business, and more she says her kids keep her grounded. In a recent chat with E! News, she joked that Max and Emme don’t care much about fame. “They’re like, ‘Work is fine, but will you be home for dinner?’” she laughed.
Still, they do show their support. The twins have been attending her Vegas shows and cheering her on from the audience. Jennifer Lopez proudly shared that they’re her biggest fans. “They’re sweet, they’re proud, and they love seeing their mama up there,” she said.
As she balances superstardom and motherhood, Lopez is clearly embracing this new phase letting her kids spread their wings while knowing the bond they share will always keep them close.
